Jim Les Head Coach
Jim Les was named the 23rd head coach in UC Davis history on May 5, 2011, and enters his fourth year with the Aggies in 2014-15. In addition to competing in the first-ever nationally televised broadcast from The Pavilion when his Aggies faced Long Beach State, on ESPN2 during the 2013-14 season, UC Davis also experienced one of the largest turnarounds in the nation. In addition to tying a Division I school record with 14 victories, a +10 win differential, the Aggies also tied another D-I record with nine Big West wins.
Last year, ESPN returned to the Pavilion for the second time in as many seasons when the Aggies hosted UC Santa Barbara in their final home game of the year. That contest was one of four nationally televised games that featured Les' teamthroughout the season.
Kevin Nosek Assistant Coach
Kevin Nosek brings more than a decade of experience as either a UC Davis assistant coach or student-athlete; the 2014-15 season marks his 13th as an assistant coach. He began his Aggie coaching career in 1999-2000 following a four-year playing career at UC Davis. After serving a three-year stint as head coach at Menlo College, Nosek returned to the Aggie staff in 2006-07. He assists in all aspects of the program.
Nosek is the true veteran of the men's basketball staff. His connection to the program dates back to his youth days, when he served as a ball boy for Bob Hamilton's teams in the late 1980s. Since his return to the staff in 2006, he has been instrumental in helping the program complete its transition to Division I, including the first official D-I and Big West Conference season in 2007-08.
Jono Metzger-Jones Assistant Coach
Jonathan Metzger-Jones, an assistant coach for the last five seasons at Montana, is UC Davis basketball's new assistant coach as announced by head coach Jim Les on June 16, 2016.
"I am extremely excited about this opportunity and joining the UC Davis community. Since I coached for five years, and played another two at other Big West schools, I am very familiar with Aggies, this university and the men's basketball program. I am grateful that Coach Les chose me for this position," said Metzger-Jones.
Kyle Vogt Assistant coach
Kyle Vogt, most recently at Western Illinois University and who has been a part of nearly 180 wins during his coaching career, has joined the UC Davis men's basketball program as an assistant coach, it was announced by Aggie head coach Jim Les on Thursday.
Vogt replaces assistant coach Gus Argenal who recently took a similar position at Rice University in Houston, Texas.
Jody Steliga Director of Basketball Operations
Jody Steliga, a two-time coach of the year and most recently an assistant coach at Colorado Christian, is UC Davis men's basketball's new director of operations. Steliga joins the Aggies after leading the Cougars to their most successful season in program history by finishing with 23 victories and a final four appearance in the Rocky Mountain Conference Tournament during the 2015-16 season..
"I'm excited to join the prestige of the University, community, and UC Davis basketball. I'm grateful for this opportunity and chomping at the bit to contribute to Coach Les' staff and the program," said Steliga.
